A show in Branson
The holiday weekend is behind us and it is the last day of May. We headed up to the Landing to do the Parakeet Zipline. I am not crazy about heights but still wanted to do a zipline and this one was like zipline light. You are seated, buckled in and cross over Lake Taneycomo. Because it was so early, we got to go across and back three times. It was not as scary as I thought it would be. After that, we did a a flavored ice tasting and then shopped at Bass Pro. They do sell guns there, which bothers me a little but they have an impressive camping section too. We were able to find a good deal on a mat for the RV and a rechargeable thermacell, which is the best protection from bugs you can find.
When we first arrived in Branson, we had bought show tickets to see the Illusionist, Reza and today was the day. It was a 3 PM show and we left early to insure we had time to find the Branson Famous Theatre. Once we arrived, we saw the Ozark Hills winery across the road so we went in for a tasting. The Niagara and muscadine were different than anything I had ever tasted before, but too sweet to actually buy a bottle. The lady who was running the tasting felt the need to bring up the shooting in Texas. Listening to the lame talking points of the rest of the tasting crowd annoyed me but I knew it was not worthwhile to argue. The winery did have a very cool museum, full of all these old historic stills which was fun.
Reza put on a really good show. I had never seen an illusionist or magic show in person before which is why I chose that over the musical acts. After the show, we stopped in at the Farmers Market which was just outside our RV park. We bought some breakfast treats and then went home to feed Kismet dinner so she could join us for our dinner at the Landing. We decided on Landshark and I had the coconut shrimp and a very spicy mango margarita. Carol had the fish and shrimp combo and a drink called, It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
The next day, we went back to the College of the Ozarks. We visited the candle and stain glass shop, the weaving studio and then the milling building. It was there we bought some apple butter and a 3 pack of jellies for gifts. The campus is so gorgeous and we enjoyed seeing every part of it. We visited the tractor museum and then Point Lookout.
For lunch, we each had the cherry BBQ pork and bought some extra chips to bring home with us. The pork came with greens grown right on campus and corn johnnie cakes. What a treat.
On our last full day in Branson, we had a leisurely morning and enjoyed the sourdough bread and strawberries from yesterday's farmer's market. We then headed out to the Wilderness area and did a nice hike. There were 338 steps which Kismet loved and it was very scenic. We came back and had a lovely late lunch at the Downing Street Pour House in Hollister, which was just past our RV park. The black and blue burger was made with wagyu beef and we each had two beers. I had a Butte dark beer and an Odell 90 schilling ale. Carol had two Cali squeezes with orange. Our waitress, Gypsy was a hoot.
