We were around long enough to feel a little bit like locals. We actually went to Sea Dog Restaurant and Brewery twice. It has a shady dog friendly patio and some really great beer.
We had the time to do some normal less touristy things. Our friends from St. Louis invited us to bowl at Ten Pin Alley. We also went to see Barbie while we were here. My wife has grade school friends that live nearby and we had dinner and brunch with them.
We also saw our friend Betty’s niece. She sang at an open mic night. The restaurant was called the Pesky Pelican. Ironically, it is a St. Louis themed restaurant with classic St. Louis food like toasted ravioli and provel cheese. I had a Gerber which was a classic ham and provel cheese sandwich that originated at Ruma’s Deli.
One other very special part of our time in Treasure Island was the beach. After the second week, we switched our mornings from the pool to the beach. We finally got smart and bought anchors for our umbrellas which made a huge difference. The beach is always windy, even in August. And oh by the way, the sunsets were gorgeous!!! On Sunday nights, there was a drum circle that played all afternoon and into the evening.
I would love to get the recipe for that toasted ravioli and provel cheese...
