I had wanted to fit in a stop in Hot Springs last year when we did our big Arkansas trip but it had just not worked out. So it seemed like a good place to end this long road adventure. We found a dog friendly Hilton with a nice view of Lake Hamilton.
We had a pizza at the hotel bar for dinner our first night so we could relax. The next morning, we were off to visit the Hot Springs National Park. I had wanted to do a package at the Buckstaff (bath and massage) but it was Sunday and they were closed so we skipped the bath and had just a massage at the Quapaw. These are the only two still in operation on Bathhouse Row (both are now privately operated). It was a chilly day and the waiting area at the Quapaw was quite active. You could pay extra for access to the pool which is fed by the Hot Spring but because they are limiting access due to Covid, we opted out.
I was pretty excited we were able to visit two National Parks on this winter trip.
After our time at Quapaw, we had dinner back on Lake Hamilton near the hotel. Fisherman’s Wharf would be a beautiful place when it was warm enough to eat on the patio and the seafood was excellent. All of this was a reminder that we should definitely come back to Hot Springs in our RV and stay for a couple weeks. There is still so much more to do and see. There are lots of campgrounds in the area, including Army Corps of Engineer Lake camping options.
Kismet posed for a spa treatment photo of her own at the hotel. And the sun set on our last night. Tomorrow, we will drive mostly on Highway 67 through Arkansas and Missouri to return home.
Oh, I would so love to go back and take advantage of the hot springs.
