Our 19 day trip concluded with a stop back in Huntsville, Alabama for a family wedding. Since I was on a genealogy roll, I wanted to stop in to the Morgan County Archives in Decatur, Alabama which is near Huntsville. Decatur is a cute little river/lake town. I didn’t find anything new, just the same marriage records I had already seen online. This was for another family line, the Masons.
I have come to realize that most all the local records are online now. The main value of visiting these places in person is to read about and absorb the local history and get a feel for the locale.
The wedding was lovely and we enjoyed spending time with living family. But we were really ready to head home. We plan to be home one week while we prepare for our October RV trip. That RV trip and another driving trip in November will be covered in the posts to come. Thanks for joining me on the journey.
