Memorial Weekend in Branson
Today it is Saturday and the the RV park is full. We had a leisurely morning and now we are off to the Lindwedel Winery. My friend Diane told us that her favorite band would be playing there, a duo called Toe Jam. We spent an absolutely lovely afternoon at this winery and really enjoyed the music.
We tasted several wines and chose a bottle of the Rojave, a dry medium bodied blend of Chambourcin and Syrah. We also enjoyed a charcuterie tray. The views were really nice (that has almost become something I expect in this area) and the weather could not have been better, cool and overcast. The winery was busy but not as nuts as we had feared for a holiday weekend. We invited another couple to join us as they arrived a little late and all the other tables were filled. It turned out that we had mutual friends so we had a lovely time chatting.
We had another small world moment, once we returned to the RV park. We spotted an RV that appeared to be the one we had owned from 2011 until we traded it in to Byerly RV in December of 2019. It was a Winnebago Minnie Winnie and after getting a closer look and chatting with the owner, we verified that it was indeed our beloved rig. We were happy to see it was still giving someone else joy but glad to have our smaller Vegas.
I am still in awe of the views we have in this campground. This is the famous Taneycomo Bridge, taken from the Branson Lakeside RV Park.
Sunday, we rode the Branson Scenic Railway. We had ordered the tickets a few days ago and had to get there early to pick them up at the train station. While we were waiting for the train departure, we walked around the old downtown. There was not much there but junk and the crowds were a little overwhelming. The crowds back the train station were a lot as well but at least it was outside.
We enjoyed the scenery on the 90 minute ride. We saw a lot of the White River and went back into northern Arkansas. The whole track would have eventually gone back to Newport, Arkansas but we turned around well before going that far.
After that, we had lunch at the Cantina Laredo on Branson Landing. We each had a smoke and spice margarita and the chicken enchilada, which was topped with an amazing creamy white sauce. We totally enjoyed the meal and the views. The rest of the day we spent relaxing at the RV and in the evening, we watched a recorded Formula One race on our outside TV.
Monday, Memorial Day, and we decided to just chill and do a little cleaning.
