We woke up in Winslow, planning to make the mountain drive to Phoenix. Fortunately, it was to be our shortest drive so far since both of us were feeling a bit under the weather with cold like symptoms. We took a Covid test since we would be visiting friends and low and behold, we both tested positive. I knew when I took Plaxovid that a rebound was possible but of course, really didn’t think it would happen to me. But it did.
Luckily, our friends were living in their park model home and we were to stay in their RV so it would be possible to isolate. I expected that it would be a short lived experience and after a few days, we would be go to go.
Our friends live in one of the beautiful communities in Apache Junction. It is a beautiful place and the weather was gorgeous all week. That was good because I just kept testing positive. After a few days, the cold like symptoms subsided but still, I tested positive. Our friends were so kind and made a grocery store run for us and also cooked dinner most nights. We ate outside at their place, social distancing and then when the temperature dropped, we went back to the RV instead of playing games like we had expected. The dogs had a blast playing together each day however.
One day, we took a drive (in separate cars) to the Granite Reef Recreation Area. It is a beautiful place for an outside picnic and we were able to take a short hike around the areas.
Finally after testing positive for a whole week, we decided the prudent choice was to head home. I did test negative the day before leaving but still the weather was turning colder and no more outside dinners would be an option. It just didn’t feel safe to do anything else. So we started to look at the weather and decide on a route home. Staying south seemed like the best bet!
Sorry you guys had to cut it short cause of dang COVID
