Our drive to Otahki had taken us on some windy, hilly backroads. When we left Otahki, we wisely decided to head over to Highway 67 and follow that until we had to branch off on Highway 8 toward Potosi, Missouri. It was a little further but a much easier drive. Next time, we camp at Otahki and I definitely hope there is a next time, we will look for the easier route.
Our next stop was at Twin Eagles Campground, just outside of Potosi, Missouri. This campground is also impressive. It is certainly not nestled in the woods like Otahki but it also is right outside of town. We were there from Sunday thru Thursday and I am not sure I would enjoy it as much on a crowded weekend or in the summer. But we had the place mostly to ourselves and it is very picturesque.
They keep two pet tortoises. There is a turtle house for them with a heat lamp and a big area for them to roam. Kismet was quite fascinated.
Our final stop was our old favorite, Meramec Valley. This time, we had picked out a new spot which had a really nice lake view. We had friends come out for hot dogs and a campfire one day. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law came out for a visit and we took them to our favorite place, the Public House in St. James. So it was a very special time.
I have to end our October story with Kismet dressed for Halloween 👻 Have a great 2024.
